4 out of 5 stars Standard TA Textbook   January 31, 2008

TA Today is the current standard textbook for Trainee Transactional Analysts, and as such is well structured, easily written, and covers all areas of TA theory up to 1987. It is in need of revising to take account of new theoretical developments, hence 4 stars. But it is still the best overall starting point for understanding the powerful techniques and ideas of Transactional Analysis.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic contribution to this field   November 1, 2006

I've read other books on this subject and have found them to be a bit heavy. This books manages to get the balance between doing justice to the topic and being readable. A lot of great examples are used. Buy it, just don't forget to read it. This book will never leave my library.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible,horrible nonsense   March 2, 2006

Please wake up, all of you! This book manages to be toxic and incoherent at the same time. I feel queasy at the thought that an army of therapists, equipped with the crass oversimplifications and crude categorisations that fill these pages, will descend on troubled and vulnerable people promising to fix their problems. Berne seems to be a focus for all sorts of charlatans and hucksters. Scientology looks respectable by comparison.

I have just purchased this book through Amazon.co.uk, A mate had gone on a course for his company to learn about T.A and he had told me all about it, I was very fascinated by it and saw this book, I have read through it and it is a very good book, It has opened my eyes in my day to day pursuits in my work, watching how people interact with each other and picking out which ego-state they are in, this is a great book and very interesting. I bought it as I am interested in this subject and I believe its going to be a developing tool for me at work & socially.
