Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent book   August 11, 2008

This book is exceptional for the money. Dorling Kindersley's usual excellent formatting means that the book is easy to read & beautifully illustrated. In the past, the one criticism that I'd make about some of their books is that the information contained within sometimes didnt quite match the standard of the photography. However this book has very concise & detailed information making it useful for both experienced enthusiasts as well as newcommers to Astronomy & indeed, anyone who has an interest in Science as it covers everything from atoms right up to galactic super-clusters. If you want one reference guide to Astronomy or Cosmology then you won't go far wrong with this. Recommended.

4 out of 5 stars A fascinating look at the universe   August 2, 2008

This book contains some stunning pictures (about 200 of them) and just says enough about each one to make me think wow. Many of the pictures do that before you read anything about them. I like the way the book takes you on a journey from earth in to deep deep space. For me a little more information on the structure and make-up of each object would have been good, and more easily added in, an idea of scale of the object. We are given how far from us they are but not how wide across. It is still enjoyable though and it seems like very good value for the quality, content and size of this harback.
