I want the sequel NOW July 3, 2007 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
Warning - if you haven't read any of the other books in this series, do not make this your first. You should still buy it cos it's brilliant, but buy all the others (equally brilliant), read them first and then read this one. Trust me, do it any other way and you will regret it. It'd be like skipping to the last page first.
And speaking of last pages .... Karin Slaughter - how could you? Lulled into a nice, happy end-of-book feeling I sat up suddenly, frantically flicking through pages thinking surely I was missing another chapter. Sadly, I was not.
Please tell me there's another book in this series soon.
Oh boy, oh boy July 2, 2007 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed this - tied up many loose ends and was really well done. The ending is sad, I will say no more, other than that Karin Slaughter does explain her reasoning and I think she is right
Cracking good read June 30, 2007 3 out of 12 found this review helpful
OK, I really enjoyed this book until the last few pages. Lena's family problems finally get exposed and resolved, the whole thing is a real rollercoaster. My only question would be about the swift conclusion that doesn't really explain everything. But the last few pages are unecessary and spoiled my day. When characters have been good to you, you should give them a decent send off if at all. Just my opinion. But a really good read.
A Cracking Plot June 29, 2007 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
Karin Slaughter grew up in a small south Georgia town and has been writing novels and short stories since she was a child. She currently resides in Atlanta.
There are few authors, if any, who can write a crime suspense thriller better than Karin Slaughter and this one is no exception. It is about murder in a small town in Georgia, with a trouble woman police officer at the centre of it all, and secrets that keep a murderer just beyond the reach of the law.
Detective Lena Adams sits bruised and angry in the jail of a small Georgia town. She is the one and only suspect in an horrific murder that left a woman burned beyond recognition. Cops are usually on the other side of the bars and Detective Adams is not at all happy with the role reversal. She is going to have to do some quick thinking and even quicker talking to get herself out of this situation . . .
