I baught this book for my son on his 5th birthday. He compleatly loves it and refers to it often. My 3 year old also likes to look through the book and talk about the pictures. It has a lot of information about things like the univerce and what is a town as well as all the different types of terrain found around the globe.

This is an exelent, enjoyable and educational book

5 out of 5 stars WOW -- What a fabulous book!   November 10, 2003

I was expecting a fabulous book with clear explanations, interesting pictures, and facts that would be compelling to a pre-schooler or early elementary grade child -- and this book SURPASSED my high expectations. The whole idea of how to read a map is so well explained for the new map-reader -- before you get into the maps, you see a two-page spread on each of the colors used widely in map-making -- WHITE is for ICE and SNOW, and YELLOW is for DESERTS, and BLUE is for LAKES and OCEANS, etc. Cultures, animals, dress, traditions, landscapes, and more are all well-packed into this book.
I bought this to share with my 3 1/2 year old inquisitive learner, and we will use just 2 pages each time we sit down. I think this would be equally or more valuable for older children, even up to the first 4 grades. (At that age, they can sit and read all the detailed information that is attractively presented.)

Well done Usborne, with another great resource book for kids!
