So what's the big Secret? July 11, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was given this trash as a 'gift' and sent it straight to the local jumble sale. I can't stomach the shocking emphasis on 'getting what you want' and materialistic nonsense. I'm a Christian but even if I were not, I'd still find this rubbish an absolute joke. The big secret is that some fools actually believe this junk and are willing to part with their cash in their stupidity.
Where was the voice of reason? July 11, 2008 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Embarrassed and angry with myself that I gave in to the hype and bought the "dummy". Now that the general public have read this book, there is a lot of balanced feedback; but, where was the voice of reason among the early reviewers / journalists who hyped it up, too much! This has to be one of the purchases that I regret to this day and honestly feel "mugged"!
Amazon, bring "look inside" / "listen to a sample" for the audio version for all books, please!
All things in moderation .... better with Napoleon Hill for sure June 26, 2008 I enjoyed this book when I read it and have given copies to friends and family to read. Take out the nonsense areas like its all your fault when something major goes wrong .... scary statement indeed, and some of it makes sense. You can have so much more in life and all it takes is focus and belief ... if you can truly beleive it, you can acheive it. So much of this is taken out of context and without the incredible power that comes from the great master himself Napoleon Hill. I would urge you to read or listen to the 6 set cd series by napeleon hill ... Tony Robins and so many others have learnt and preach his teachings from almost 100 years ago ... it is the real thing !! The Science of Personal Acheivement. Its called. Its the real Mccoy. Rhoda and some great gurus of today seem to have taken what he has said all that time ago and paraphrased it. Hope you enjoy it !! Its also downloadable if you look around.
A brilliant introduction to the Law of Attraction June 25, 2008 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Early last year I got hold of a copy of the Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Who can deny that the title is wonderful for catching your attention? The book serves as a brilliant introduction to the law of attraction, which is an interpretation of the power behind the universe. The book is based on the author's Secret DVD which has interviews with a number of notable law of attraction speakers. The book contains some of the choicest quotes included in the DVD and new commentary by Rhonda Byrne. This is a great book that helps you gently dip your toe into this fascinating genre.
Absolutely Ridiculous June 17, 2008 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
This book is so Ridiculous I barely know where to start. A well meaning friend bought this book for me as he himself was halfway through it and thought it was 'amazing', I believe he even had pictures of things he 'wanted ' stuck up on his wall which the universe was going to provide. It truly is a complete joke of a book, any level headed individual will either read it and find it hilarious or read it and become quite angry, my reaction to its drivel was a mixture of the two.
This book is an insult to history, economics, Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Biology!
Rhonda Byrne has been watching far too much Living TV
