4 out of 5 stars sort of, but not quite   January 19, 2008

Very nearly there in terms of what it gives but it falls down on the "me, me, me" factor ... just too much of that and not enough about giving to repay what has been received. Albeit a rather decent read, it did not quite do it for me, sorry.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   November 6, 2007

This is the sweetness of books which should be shared with other books in your library. Esther and Jerry Hicks through the teachings of Abraham clearly outlines the fundamentals of the laws of attraction and how one can tune into this art. When I started this book I was unable to put it down at the end of the book I wanted more and more most of all the techniques transmitted by Abraham really is for our age to help and assist all of mankind towards a fulfilling enriched life. I practice each of the teachings from this book and my life is much more holistically balanced but most of all I have a deeper belief in myself.

5 out of 5 stars A remarkable, but heavy read.   September 28, 2007

"The Secret" is a great book which has introduced the mass public to the beliefs held within the laws of attraction. In the book/ DVD a number of great believers are interviewed. Ester Hicks is probably one of the most respected on the subject. She speaks with kindness and wisdom about how the individual can utilise the powers within the ether, and within themselves to live a better life. The Law of Attraction is deep and comprehensive read, although at times it can get a bit heavy. Also look at the marvelous Dr Wayne DIER whose book 'You See it When you Believe it' which is complimentary to Ester Hicks book, which at times can jar because of its use of American phrasing and spelling.

'The ULTIMATE guide to Cosmic Ordering' by ANDRONICOU covers the same themes in a more direct manner that, as a Brit, is easier to read, absorb, and enjoy. Whilst the Hicks book suffers for its density it is a comprehensive read and should be put on your reading pile.

5 out of 5 stars Prosperity thinking   September 7, 2007

The ideas presented in this book are both old and new, since they have been echoed in different forms for hundreds of years. They are new because the Hicks express the idea of prosperity thinking in a unique voice - this book is after all channeled material.

If you feel that you have a unfulfilled dream, goal or desire in life...one that you really, really want to achieve then this book is for you. The question I have is does it work? Well it's difficult to answer that. Certainly the positive mental vibrations that are created from reading this book can only help you.

I advise this book for people with a New Age, spiritual vibe, those who want a direct approach might prefer "Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don't." I found Losier psychological and the Hicks are metaphysical in their presentation. I also enjoyed reading "NEXUS: A Neo Novel" which is a story about transformation. If you just want a visual presentation of these ideas: "The Secret" DVD is good for that.

1 out of 5 stars Channels attract like-minded spirits...   September 4, 2007

Interestingly, this book proves that channels attract spirits that are in harmony with them. America's obsession with a Faustian and materially-oriented spirituality, where Spirit is there to offer you a brand new car, lots of money, to keep you young and sexually attractive, attracts spirits (from what region ?...) that comfort those beliefs.

Jesus' three tests, in the desert, on top of the Temple and on the mountain, are the Christian version of the three tests, on the physical, emotionnal and mental level, that everone must overcome on the way to manifesting one's higher Self, or Spirit.

But in the US modern day spiritualiy, the idea is to NOT resist any temptation but to use spiritual powers to satisfy one's greed, lust and pride. This is called selling one's soul to the "devil" as did Dr Faust.

These ideas sound convincing, because they are based on genuine spiritual principles... except they're being used upside down. A "me, myself and I" spirituality, that isn't spiritual at all.
