5 out of 5 stars An inspiring read for consultants, directors and human beings   May 29, 2008

As a consultant and fairly spiritually minded person, I found this book to be inspiring and refreshing in its approach to developing both people and organisations. It fed my soul as well as my practical mind. The authors use plain English to explore issues such as purpose, energy, consciousness and human spirit in addition to the practicalities of leading people through a process for creative innovation.

The book is cleverly presented in two well structured parts. One half shows how to apply the `wheel of 8 Energy Intelligences' to develop your own personal and creative power. The other half does the same but in the context of developing groups in a way that is beyond the awareness of most Organisational Development specialists that I've met.

The authors follow a structure that helped me to understand and compare each of the directions in a way that is authentic, crisp and engaging. They remind us of our humanness and offer words of wisdom around what it means to `live' each of these 8 energies. The brevity, use of images and Zen koans also helped to keep my attention.

It's an easy read but sometimes there was so much insight packed into a few sentences I'd spend ages mulling it over before turning the page. Although I read this with my consultant hat on, there is much in here that makes this a useful toolkit for life in general.

As a leadership development read, I think it should be on every director's list.

5 out of 5 stars Not just a business book!   May 16, 2008

I am a bit biased about this book as it is written by my husband! However, I have a background in the field of leadership and creativity and have read enough to know that this is a book worth the investment of time and money.

This is not purely a business book as I have been able to apply the practice to my life as a wife and mum. I think I have become more productive, and more aware of nurturing my own growth along the way - easy to forget when you have 2 small children!

I would certainly recommend it as a resource for anyone who wants to make a creative difference in their lives and the lives of people around them, I would also recommend it to individuals wishing to develop their creativity to its full potential.

I have found that the book lends itself to being 'dipped into' - which suits me. This has meant that the insights I have uncovered have been appropriate to what is going on in my life at the time.

Definitely worth a read. Who knows what might happen?!
