5 out of 5 stars excellent   September 24, 2007

As a Personal Trainer it is essential to both educate my clients and keep them interested by demonstrating new exercises. This book is a perfect work tool as it gives clear and concise explanations of exercises with a clear diagram. It also gives clear indication of which muscle groups are being exercised.

A decent book that does what it says on the tin.

I got this book because it was recommended by fireservice.co.uk for those wanting to become firemen.

No daft waffly intro extolling its own virtues, just straight to the point: nice.

Clear, eye-pleasing images that make almost every exercise straightforward to do; increase your interest in how the muscles work; and motivate you.

I found some good new dumbell routines in here that I never would have thought of, and they seem to work a treat - I was doing it all wrong before.

I can't compare it with any others, but I'm not disappointed with it at all.

5 out of 5 stars Informative, concise and easy to follow   August 7, 2007

This book is excellent if you wish to access easily available information on building and sculpting muscle. You can pick this book up and immediately access a host of exercises relating to different body zones thus ensuring you are working a good diversity of muscle groups in a given zone and that you have a good diversity of exercises for any given zone.

This book is great as a tool to help you train as well as offering proffessional advice and a reasonable dose of muscle biology - great book for the finely forged fanatic and the average fella fighting the flab - get it now!

5 out of 5 stars Good Health and Muscle Specifics   August 4, 2007

Hi. I am not a body builder but I do believe in good health and part of this is using weights to keep toned and burn fat.

This book is incredible. Each page has the most fantastic diagrams of each part of your body. It covers arms, legs, chest, abdo, back, bottom - you name it, all of it. But other "body" books I have seen and purchased, howeber good they are, simply show someone pumping loads of iron.

This book, despite the incredible detail, illustrates clearly and pictorially (big pictures too..) exactly which muscles would be worked for a specific exercise.

I would recommend this for anyone serious about good health and understanding their body. If you have not thought about 'weight training' before, I would recommend it. It's not all about giants with big muscles.

It is a book that is easily pictorially digested. There are NOT (phew!!) lots and lots of words!!!!! How refreshing!!!! It translates from diagrams SUPERBLY.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference For Weightlifting   July 26, 2007

This book is an excellent resource for planning and executing weightlifting exercise. I have found this book valuable in informing my practice as a physiotherapist and in developing my own personal workouts. Each section is well presented with diagrams indicating muscles worked as well as the benefits of each exercise.

My only critiscisms are that perhaps a section on establishing the correct amount of weight to lift would have been handy as well as pointing out that if you do injure yourself training seek professional help before attempting to treat yourself.
